Subject: Happy Halloween!
Hola Familia!
So this morning I woke up, did my exercises (jogging in place and sit ups haha... ), got ready, ate a quick breakfast of Cinnamon Apple O´s and yogurt, and started studying. Into my studies, my companion whispered ¨Happy Halloween!¨ hahah I had completely forgot it was Halloween! haha. But I must admit I enjoyed thinking about all of the great memories growing up with our scary stories. I would pay 10 mil pesos in order to hear dad tell his story this year... haha but I will have to hold a scary story session with Hermana Hart. We were thinking of dressing up as Elders, but couldn't find any ties... Haha
This has been yet another great and eventful week! This last week, we changed apartments, I dont remember if I had told you about that last week, so we have been enjoying a nice clean shower with hot water and all of the luxuries of a new clean apartment this week. even though we have been living with out some of the necessities such as a shower curtain or a stove. butthat's OK. haha Hermana Hart and I have been living the sweet life with a carpeted apartment. haha
Also this week, we had some great experiences. HernĂ¡n Espejo is progressing nicely for his baptism in 2 weeks! We have just about all of his teachings out of the way with a week to spare, so this week we are going to be trying to get him involved with the members with family home evenings and so on. This little old man is so sweet. So lonely. He always tells us stories about his wife who passed away 3 months ago. She was never able to have children. He told us that when they met, she told him that should would never be able to have a baby, but he said he loved her so much that it didn't matter. He talks about her with so much love that I just cant help but wonder if she is helping us prepare his for his baptisms so they can be together forever! We also found out that he got hit by a car last week and we didn't even realize it! But his is all recovered now. We just thought he fell, but it is a miracle that he is still around!
We also worked this week with a member named Hermana Flor Duran. She is probably the sweetest little woman. She is 81 but she has SO much energy. She went out working with us and was walking faster than us. One of the appointments fell though and she said, I have a friend who lives over here, lets go visit her. The daughter of her friend was their and there was a very strong spirit. She quickly and excitedly accepted a baptismal date. And yesterday she showed up to church. All of this happened because we worked with a member! Can you see the potential that you as members have? You really have SO much power! Talk to you friends! Invite them to listen to the missionaries! I promise you will see miracles!
I am just really really really enjoying my life and time as a missionary. Especially as a trainer. haha It is so fun. We spend the whole day working so so hard, but enjoying every minute. But I literally get back to the pension so so tired that I can only update the area book and collapse in bed. But oh it is such a great feeling! I have never slept so great! haha
I hope you are all having a great Halloween! I will try to find some American candy it eat. haha But if not, Nutella will do right? haha (oh ps. last night we had a scary Halloween experience as we walked back to our pension. Long story short, two tall, blond American girls call a lot of unwanted attention but, we are protected as missionaries! yay!) But we have already switchedgears to Christmas!!! We have been listening to Christmas music and practicing hymns to sing in the metro all this month!! WAhoo! Even on the other side of the world, I STILL LOVE THIS TIME OF THE YEAR! Even if it is blazing hot instead of winter.
I love you ALL! I love being a missionary! I love the Joy and happiness that I feel each day of my life. The Gospel really does bring so much joy as will live it! Share the happiness with everyone you meet!!!
Hermana Royal
