Subject: Happy March of Miracles!!
Hello!!
How are you all doing?? I hope this March has found you happy and healthy! I am happy and healthy (except for the millions of flea bites that I have... It seems that no matter what I do, I just can change that fact that I am so sweet blooded... haha) But this has been a fun week. A tough, exhausting, shoe breaking, door knocking week, but it has been fun! We have lifted our spirits with laughter and chocolate. haha
Do you want to hear about some of the eventful happenings? First off, yesterday we had Stake Conference. We all showed up and thought it was a normal conference, where the StakePresidente and his councilors would speak, but we were wrong! It was a special broadcast from Salt Lake City exclusively for the Northern half of Chile! Elder L. Tom Perry, Elder Neil A. Andersen, Elder Jay Jensen and Sister Julie B. Beck spoke to us and the most miraculous thing is... THEY SPOKE IN SPANISH (except for L. Tom Perry) ! I couldn't help but think "wow. This is the gift of tongues in action!" Seriously everyone spoke perfectly in Spanish, without even gringo accents! The Lord really does empower us when we put our trust and confidence in him. I think the purpose of the conference was to burn and refine the Chilean saints. haha They started out talking about the family, how we need to teach the Restoration to our children and we need to be like mini Lehis and Sariahs and guide our children down the path of righteousness. Then sister Beck lectured the young single adult men, saying that the saddest thing she has seen as she has traveled the world is single, righteous women who long to be wives and mothers but the men lack faith to get married. She said Heavenly Father is not pleased and he wants to see a change. Hah Then Elder Anderson spoke about Tithing and how the saints need to change their perspective of tithing and not look at is as a financial restriction, but as financialinsurance. And finally Elder L. Tom Perry (who will turn 90 this year) spoke about the Book of Mormon and challenged us to read it again. I think everyone left the conference a little bitchastised, but it was so great! I know that they really love the Chileans and are trying to prepare them to be great leaders in the church in the very very near future!
Secondly, This week, I almost died like 5 times... haha Yeah not really but let me explain. For the last couple weeks, we have had a gas leak. But we didnt have any idea how dangerous it was. VERY VERY long story short, we realized that we were really dumb for not saying anything about our gas leak and that God protected us in a BIG way.
Also, yesterday, I was walking down the street with my itsy bitsy companion and and as we walked past a dog, I thought to my self, this dog is going to attack us! I pulled my companion to the other side of me, as a precaution, because she is terrified of dogs. Just as I moved her our of the way (all of this happened in like 2 seconds) The dog jumped up and started trying to attack us! There wasn't anyone around to help us! What is funny and amazing to me is how calm I felt and how I reacted! I shielded my dear companion and just walked away. haha instead of running, or throwing stones like I normally do, I just couldn't think of anything to do except protect my companion and walk away. Amazingly, nothing happened. I thought for sure it was going to bite me because he was ferocious. Seriously, now that I think back, it was just a miracle. But I hate dogs. I think after my time in Chile, I never want to see a dog again, Charlie is going to have to be reeeeeeallly cute for me to love him again. haha
We also have been sponge bathing this week haha. Our shower isn't warming the water AT ALL. so we have been taking water from the sink and sponge bathing. haha I feel like I live in the olden days... I hope this next week, we will return to hot showers. Oh AND, this week, we came back to the pension and the whole kitchen was flooded haha. It's been one of those twilight zone weeks, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. haha
Lets see, fleas, gas leak, cold showers, flooded kitchen, dog attack, broken shoes... is there something I am forgetting... haha
Ok family I LOVE YOU ALL SOO MUCH!
HAve a great weeeeeek
Hermana Royal
ps. I have attached a picture of my future boyfriend, Elias... I just have to wait 20 years... haha this week was the primary talent show and he danced the tango with his sister. It was too cute haha
