Hello All!
How are you doing? I hope that everyone is happy and healthy!
This has been a fast week huh? But although it was fast, lots has happened! We had changes this week... and drum roll, nothing is changing! hahah Hermana Mamani and I are together for another change! I am getting used to feeling... tall.. haha but seriously I am happy I love my little companion. She is so innocent! She has only been a member for 2 years and is still learning A LOT about the church. At the beginning of the change, she told me she wasn't sure if she had a testimony, but yesterday she thanked me for helping her find her testimony. She is just so great. So humble and fun! I think I have passed my whole mission laughing with my companions.
Ready for the good news?? Kateuska passed her Baptismal interview yesterday! She will be baptized on Sunday! Wahoooo!! i just love baptisms. She is basically amazing. But pray hard for her this week, because her Ex boyfriend is working hard to tempt her, but she is strong! She is so excited to be baptized and is just because well loved by our little branch here in Valpo. She has such a strong testimony about the restoration.
Also, Sergio is just awesome! I love that little man so much! This week he showed us photos of this wedding, his wife was so beautiful! We had a POWERFUL lesson about eternal marriage. He told us about how he is counting the days before he can be reunited with his sweet wife. He told us how in 48 years of marriage, they never once fought. He told us about how he felt bad because one time, he lectured her because while she was in chemo therapy, she went out in the rain and caught a cold, but after he yelled at her, he tucked her into bed and brought her a cup of tea and toast with butter. He loves his wife so much. He calls her "my sweet Gladys". After hearing about his sweet stories, the spirit was so strong and after a moment of silence, he said "Hermanas, I'm going to tell you something that I haven't told to anyone, because I know that you will believe me. My sweet Gladys still comes to visit me, sometimes before bed she comes to talk with me, other times, when I'm lonely we sit on the porch together. I told her about my baptism, and I told her that I'm a little scared of drowning, but she said she will be helping me and that she has already accepted her baptism." I can't even express to you the spirit that I felt as he told us. I felt as if she was there with us since the beginning, that she guided us to his house, that she is helping him to remember to read his scriptures, that she is helping him give up tea. She loves him, and he loves her. It is amazing. I am learning so much about how God intends a marriage to be. After the lesson, Sergio looked at me and said "Hermana Royal, I am going to start saving up so I can go to your wedding. But you have to hurry because I am already 84 years old, so you will have to get married before the end of the year" hahaha we all started laughing. If he can't save up enough money in time, I am going to have to sell my car to pay for his plane ticket... haha jk. But seriously, I love him so much. I feel so privileged to know him and be apart of this sacred conversion process. I know that our loved ones from the other side of the veil are greatly involved in our lives! In fact last night, I had a dream about Grandma Royal that confirmed that to me.
Also, this week, President Gillespie and Hermana Gillespie took us along with them to Girls Camp!! Wahoo! It was amazing! We were able to share our testimonies and our stories about why we decided to serve a missions with 2 stakes. It was so special! I really hope that these amazing 12-18 year old girls decide to serve missions. Although its not an obligation, it is a great privelge! And although for many of us, God will call us to be moms or teachers or leaders in other forms, I can not speak one negative word about the mission. It has forever changed my life! Afterwards, the girls came up to tell us that we are their best examples and how much they want to be like us. I felt suprised, because I was just thinking how much I wanted to be like them!!
Anyways, this was an amazing week. I am happy. I Love being a missionary. I Love it. I love it. I love it.
I love you all too! If you don't have a Valentine this year, I will be your long distant Valentine becuase I love you all!!
Be good this week! And pray for my peeps here in Valpo!
