Hola Familia!
Well, the news that I you all have been waiting for...today in the night I leave my home in La Serena and depart for Limache in Villa Alemana! I am going to be in a Trio with HermanaSalano from Ecuardor y Hermana Arcos from Colombia! I am so excited! I have never been in a Trio, and I haven't heard too many good things about it, but I know its going to be great!Hermana Arcos is going to finish her mission this change, and in the next change, Hermana Salano, so I will be learning lots from two very successful missionaries. How cool huh? I leave tonight at midnight for the 8 hour bus ride (and I will be riding alone!) yikes! But I really am so excited. Limache is pure country side. Its going to be very different from the big cities of La Serena and Vina del mar, but I am so excited!! I will let you know how it goes, but pray for me! Oh and I am no longer Jr. Companion, but we are in an co-companionship, cool huh?
So this week we had the Baptism of Monica! It was a very special experience. She is a very special woman. Hermana Rivera and I have seen miracles with her. At her baptism, the water was ICY COLD. We don't know what happened, but for a moment, we thought she wasn't going to do it. Everyone was waiting for her to go down the stairs into the water, but she waited and waited and wasn't going to budge. Haha With some gentle persuading, she slowly and painfully entered the water. After the baptism, she looked at us, and said "I think I'm going to cry." We were sure if it was a good thing or bad thing. But then in tears with a smile on her face, she said "I feel like I have been born again!" It was such a sweet moment to see the change that would be in her life. Pablo baptized her, which was such a great experience and Maria Jofre gave a talk at her baptism. It was so special to be surround by my converts (all 6 of them) and see that they really are going to be active members of the church. Though I thought I would feel pain and sadness to leave this amazing ward, I only had ( and continue to feel) feelings of pure joy. I feel like I have done what the Lord had planned for me here. I feel like I really have done all that I could and I am leaving the ward better than when I found it. I made a promise with Carla and Pablo that in a little less than a year, I am going to be in the temple with them, and watch thier family be sealed together for time an all eternity. I keeping expecting to cry, but I only feel joy. Its very similar to how I felt when I left for the mission.
Speaking of Pablo, we have been teaching his family and this week they whole family (of 7) agreed to be baptized. I attached a photo of the family. They are amazing. I know they are going to be baptized in the next change. They are making the changes necessary and I can see the joy in Pablo as he sees his 6 siblings and mom follow in his footsteps. he will be the person to baptize them.
Really, I feel SO HAPPY! I feel like my time here in La Serena has eternally changed me. The faith of my converts and my companion have made me a better person. Thank you for sharing in the talk in sacrament meeting that the theme of my mission is "Obedience brings happiness" Because its true! I am walking evidence of it. Marie Jofre, Carla, Pablo, Monica, Guillermo and Eliud are evidence. My family is evidence! God wants us to be happy! Haha
Wow, I really love you all so much. I am excited to tell you how things are going in my new zone! I heard rumors that we will have bikes! Yikes! I am having a hard time imagining myself riding on a bike along side a a green cilantro field. haha we will see if my imagination matches the description!
Good luck to Amy this week in COLLEGE! Drive safe! I Love you all so much! Thanks for all your support and love
