Subject: What can I say instead of Hola...
Hello again my favorite family and friends!
Again, I cant believe how fast time flies in the mission! I hope you are all making good use of your time... because once its gone we never get it back! yikes! But yet again, you guys find me happy and smiling here in Chile! ( I wish I could say healthy but I am a little under the weather) It looks like I am suffering the consequences of the rain this week. Last Monday night was an adventure. The streets here in La Serena quickly became rivers and we were drenched head to toe, But it was actually really fun. But a week later I am paying the price with a nasty cold. But the Lord doesn't give us sick days haha. Luckily he is giving me all the energy I need.
This week has been another great week! We really are finding so much success here! This Saturday we have the Baptism of Maria Jofre! After so much time of praying and fasting and waiting and encouraging... She is getting baptized! And I am so happy. I seriously cant express the feelings of joy and excitement that I feel to be involved inmissionary work. If any of you are feeling down, discouraged, sad, or just stagnate... Go talk to the missionaries. I know they will be happy to have your help in the lessons. Give a book of Mormon to a friend, Invite a friend to listen to the missionaries! I promise you will experience feelings of Joy you never could have expected! One of the amazing blessings if the gospel is the Lord fills our emptiness with happiness! One of our investigators said he is looking for something to fill the empty space in his life. Hermana Rivera and I looked at each other and smiled and said "Guess what, you´ve found it!" (or something along those lines because Spanish doesn't have the same feeling) haha
Entonces... who is going to take the challenge... eh eh? I look forward to hearing about your awesome experiences en la obra misional!
haha
This week has been full of strange and funny things, all of them involving old men who are little off their rockers. haha Yesterday Hermana Rivera and I contacted a man in the street. He seemed super bueno at first, but then he started talking about the process of converting electricity (or something, i am going to be honest, I didn't understand too much) Every time we tried to interrupt "that's great, as missionaries we also bring light to the world, when can we go to your house and teach your family" Every time, he paused and continued on talking about this process of electricity.Hermana Rivera couldn't stop laughing and after 5 minutes of him talking we had to basically run away with him shouting after us about electricity. haha
Also Tuesday, we were in interchanges with two elders, our district leader, and we knocked on the Door of a future investigator. An old man answered the door. We asked if we could enter and share a short message with him and he very kindly said he was busy. One of the Elders, a blonde haired blue eyed Utahan asked him if he liked music, so we could sing for him. With a creepy smile on his face, and a arm around the shoulder of the Elder, old man said "Look, I used to like music, I used to like to drink, I used to like to smoke, I used to like women, but now all I like are men." We all tried to hold back laughter as the Blonde elder backed away slowly. I don't think it sounds as funny on paper, but I never laughed so hard in the mission. haha
Also, this week I have been walking around with a black eye. haha Its a long story, but Long story short, one morning, I woke up and as I was going to the bathroom, I fainted and hit my forehead/eyebrow on the bathtub. haha I don't know why or how I fainted but I have a nice shiner to prove it. It has been difficult to explain to members so I have just been saying that my companion is abusive. haah
In short, it has been a funny and strange week, But I know that Lord is watching over and protecting all of this children. And I think he has had a good laugh too this week. I wish I could explain to you all how close I feel to my savior, but I cant put it in words. But I will say that I know my savior, and I know he knows me. The more I study about his life, his teachings and his attributes, the more I want to be like him. Countless times in the scriptures its says "Come unto me" This is always his invitation. ALWAYS! His arms are always outstretched guiding and helping us, but he can never obligate us to do anything. But what a sweet image to imagine his arms, always leading and guiding us and ready to catch us when we fall.
I love you all so much! I hope you enjoy this week and enjoy the sun and warmth for me...
Con MUCHO MUCHO MUCHO amor,
Hermana Royal
