I miss you all alot but I'm still not feeling home sick, so what a blessing. First off, a couple of buisness items before I share about my awesome week: First, do you guys know about dearelder.com? it's a free way to send letters! I would love for you to use it becuse they print them off and send them to me! Second, mom would you mind sending me some more t-shirt and maybe some more pj bottoms (sweats or star pants) I didnt realize how much i would need them, But we have gym everyday so I will need more. gracias:) Also, for immunizations, we forgot to look at one of the sides so I have to get 2 more shots, Hep A and typhus or something. It will be like $120.00 but I can use my debit card. Gracias for todos! I am so glad to hear about the family, your garden, Kevin's sacrement experience!! I will be writing personal letters soon to talk more about it!
Ok, So let me first just say that I absolutely love the MTC. It is such a unique place with so much energy, excitement and instant friends. You can feel the spirit every minute of every day. I love it so much. My companero is Hermana Ellsworth from Colorado Springs and she is the most adorable girl who ever lived. We get along so perfectly. She is the companion I have been praying for and guess what, She is going to Vina del Mar the same time as me!! Que fantasico! So great to have a fellow sister to fly over there with and I am praying that we will have a chance to be companions again in the feild. I will send pictures soon. We have two other girls in our district and four elders. All of which are going to Chile! But only hermana Ellsworth and I are going to Vina. The two other girls share a room with us and we all got to the MTC at the same time. We are all here for 8 weeks and we leave March 14to Chile!! I am in the beginning spanish class, so everything has been a review for me. I can actually understand very well. At first I was wondering why I was put in the beginning class, but I am SO grateful I was so I can have Hermana Ellsworth as a companion. She doesn't know any spanish so I get to teach her alot, which is actually a great help for me tambien. (Mom, funny story about her is she saw your comment on the Vina del Mar facebook page and she facebook stalked me through you, before we even knew we would be companions!)
We have already taught the 1st lesson three times. The misssionaries "tract" each other as investigators and role play with each other to get more practice in teaching. The first time we had to knock on doors was a halarious experience with hermana Ellsworth. We both were so nervous to do it. We would walk up to doors, getting ready to knock on them but we would chicken out. Finially we bucked up and found two elders to teach. They played the roles of catholic investigators. It went pretty well! Very exciting.
I had a very special experienncee this week with role play. One of the teachers was playing the role of an investigator from his mission. We had to rely on the spirit to ask inspired, effective questions. The investigator was a pilot from colorado who was having marriage troubles. As I sat there, I was thinking how weird it was that I could actually feel love for this "investigator" that I just met. I hardly knew him and I felt so much love for him. As I sat there, I was immdeiately filled with the most intense love I had ever felt. Tears started pouring from me ( I was sobbing actually and it was really embarrassing because everyone was starring at me) but I realized that I had been allowed to feel but a small portion of God's love for this man-- his love for each and everyone of us. My imperfect body could hardly handle that feeling of Godly love, but I will never forget the way it felt. It has changed the way I look at poeple. I see them through God's eyes. I feel this intense love for them and I want to tell each one of the how much God truly loves them, individually. He loves each of you too. As I realize how important love is in missionary work, I feel so blessed to have had that expereince.
I also have been working on memorizing the The first vision is spanish and english. Those words have SO much power! it is insane. When we teach those words and the resturation (even if its just to missionary investigators) you can feel the power of it. And the spirit is there to testiffy. We watched theJoseph Smith movie yesterday and It testified again to me that Joseph Smith really was a true prophet and that he restored this gospel with god's authority to the earth. I can now teach it with a surety. Knowing that it is true!!
Ok enough with the spiritual stuff :) I live right next to hermana Smith (Taylor Smith, from Awhatukee 2nd ward) and I ran into Blaine Leach Yesterday. He suure looks and acts grown up! It is amazing to me how the lord qualifies these 19 year old boys (though they age definitly shows through sometimes). The MTC is full of funnny interactions between elders and sisters. I love people watching here. Me and my companion have had several good laughs over it. One time, we walked into our classroom, and the elders were in there and it smelt rrreeeallly weird. We looked at each other and started cracking up. We laughed for like 3 mins straight. Such a blessing to have a great companion. She teaches me so much. And I think I teach her a lot too so its a great relationship! I really love her so much already.
I miss you all!! Send me letters! I haven't got any yet but I know they are on there way :) It's weird being in Provo right next to BYU. I saw guys from my ward today at the temple and I know so many of the teachers from my ward or classes. My main teacher was my FHE brother, but he doesnt remember me... and another teacher was my home teacher last semester at Glenwood. Good times here at the MTC. I love you all. Stay strong. God loves you. I know it. You can belive me:) cant wait till next monday!!
Mucho Amor,
Hermana Royal
