La Serena, Chile Week 10

Hola!
I was so happy to have a in box full of emails today! Thank you for your letters :) I am sorry to hear that Amy broke her arm and can´t write me... hah jk (its her birthday this week so I will give her a break) HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS! I cant believe how old our little family is. Also, i may or may not have been able to hold back the tears when I found out Melissa Smith is engaged. haha Its kind of overwhelming to think that almost ALL of my friends are going to be married and pregnant by the time I get back. Haha I got Shelby's announcement this week and she looks SO beautiful. Wow. Iive sure is unpredictable.
Anyways, this week was an AMAZING week! Hermana Jones and I have been very blessed with success! We have started making arrangements for the wedding of Carla and Pablo. (Side note) I LOVE THEM SO SO MUCH. Seriously. They are the miracle of my mission. In 5 weeks, they have changed from cold and uninterested to completelyfaithful and hungry to learn more about the gospel. Everyday I am so impressed with them. I now understand why the Lord wanted me drop what I was doing to get my butt to Chile! Carla and Pablo were waiting for me! I seriously cant help but smile when I think about them and there daughter Igancia. Also, i feel so blessed because I KNOW that they are going to go to the temple in one year and I am going to be in Chile! I am going to start praying now that I can go to the temple with them. haha I cant wait to send you photos of the Wedding and Baptism. Some times I wonder if it is unhealthy the amount of Love that I feel for their little family.
This week, we found 11 new investigators, I wish I could tell you about each one of them, because I feel that each of them has been prepared by the Lord. One in particular isFransisco is a 21 year old boy ( we are teaching A LOT of males between 16-30 years old haha the Lord obviously needs more priesthood) who decided to attend institute because he was curious. During the lesson, Hermana Jones and I both felt very strongly that he is is going to be a missionary! aha This week, he accepted a baptismal date for July.
This week I have seen SO strongly the Lord´s hand in his work. I will share one (out of many) with you. This weekend, our President held a mission-wide fast. Yesterday,Hermana Jones and I decided to bring some extra food in our backpacks for after Lunch, (we knew that our lunch appointment always gives a small portion of food). So we each packed a sandwich and a fruit and a granola bar. We never bring food with us, but for some reason, we decided to yesterday. After lunch, we decided to pass by the house of Monica, a woman that we contacted in the street. We had pasted by several times before and she was never home. This time however, she was home and let us enter and teach a short lesson. She told us she had read a couple chapters in the Book of Mormon that we left for her, and she listened to our message with lots of interest. After the lesson, she prayed for us and she set up an appointment to visit with her later this week, a very normal lesson. But as we stood up to leave, I felt prompted to ask her if there was anything we could do for her. For about a minute, she was silent and wouldn't look at us in the eyes. We told her we loved her and were here in Chile to serve. She told us she was embarrassed to tell us. Finally she told us how she lives alone and can´t cook. Usually, her brother comes by to cook for her but for the last couple days, he didn't come. Shedidn't have any food in the house. I asked her if she was hungry and she didn't answer. Immediately, I understood why we decided to bring food with us, and why we decided to pass by her house. We gave her all the food we had with us. I will admit, it was a little hard to say goodbye to my peanut butter and nutella sandwich, but I knew that this foodwasn't meant for us. I KNOW that the Lord is so involved in our lives. I know that he takes care of his children and if we are in tune with the spirit, he will use us as tools in his hands. It was a small, yet special manifestation of the Lord´s love for each and everyone of his children.
Did I mention that I LOVE EACH OF YOU SO MUCH!? Well, its true. I am so happy to be on a mission. Its something I never NEVER thought I would do, but I KNOW why I am here. I hope each of you trust God enough to go where he sends you and do what he asks of you because so much happiness follows when we follow him. If that makes sense... haha
I LOVE YOU ALL,
Hasta el proximo lunes,
La Hermana Royal
